Harvest Festival

We have had some lovely feedback on the harvest festival sevice yesterday. 'It was a very special service, the children played the bells beautifully.'

We also managed to raise £87.95 for the Night Stop charity which helps to provide accomodation and support for the 14- 25 year olds in Gloucester.

A huge thankyou to all for your generosity. I am sure every penny is appreciated.  

Foundation Unit- Minsterworth leads the way.

A recent review states children need to learn through a play based curriculum. 

Our Foundation Unit already  provides a play based curriculum.  Our children are at the front of building a 21st Century schools system.

Pamper Evening

The evening was a huge success. Every one had a lovely relaxing evening with a bit of fun too.   We raised over £500.

A huge thank you to all who helped and supported Minsterworth, especially Sarah Cook who coordinated the full event.  Thank You.

Gloucestershire's First Foundation Unit

This is open for children aged 2 years 9 months to 5 years.  Foundation children will achieve their Early Learning Goals through the experience of learning through play. It is very exciting time for Minsterworth. We still have a few spaces if you are interested in giving your young child a more appropraite way of learning. 

Caswell Bay

To celebrate our topic at the end of term we had a trip to the seaside. The sun shone, we built sancastles on the beach, some of us looked for  the sea creatures in the rock pools. Most of us had a splonge in the sea. It was a lovely day out and a great way to end the term. 

Celebration End of Year

Minsterworth put on an old fashioned Musical Hall production for the end of year production. Including singing, dancing, jokes and led by the most dynamic, dazzling duo of comperes.  Ending the show with KS2 like you've never seen before doing the Can Can.

Prom in the Playground

The afternoon was a great success, fun was had by all. We raised over £900, a fantastic amount for such a small school. A great big THANKYOU TO FRIENDS OF MINSTERWORTH SCHOOL

We are holding a PROM in the playground musical event on 13th June. Beer & Wine will be available but please bring your own picnic. Please keep the afternoon free.

It is promising to be an excellent afternoon of entertainment. 

The Minsterworth children will play and sing. We are also lucky enough to have a visit from a real opera singer.

Future Clubs

I am putting a questionnairre together to give out over half term about clubs we may offer for the next school year.  Our plan is to run clubs on a six week cycle. Please feel free to put forward any suggestions.

St Georges Day

Fish and Chip 'Desert Island Discs' type entertainment was a huge success. A very enjoyable evening was had by all.

A big thanks to Cathy Thomas who organised the event single handed.

Internet Cafe

The Internet Cafe is due to open on Tuesday 21st April. Please pop along to join us. 

This is a free facility for the village. Hands on practical advice from the novice level. 

Even if you have never switched on a computer come along and find out how.

OFSTED National Press Release

Ofsted have just released a report on Physical Education in Schools 'Working towards 2012 and beyond.' Minsterworth School has been included in this report as having OUTSTANDING physical edcation. The full report can be down loaded from OFSTED website.

Netball

The netball team have just played their first match. Well done, you played as a great team.

2-4 to Huntley, next match against Pauntley next Thursday after school. Please stay behind after school to show support.   

Minsterworth ICT

At last, we are very pleased the Laptops are all working wonderfully.

All children were very excited logging on for the first time.

We look forward to bringing Minsterworth ICT skills inline with our other outstanding achievements.

Activemark 2008

Once again, Minsterworth proves it is exceptional at delivering the National School Sport Stratergy-

All children take part in two hours PE each week as well as extra curricular activities.

Well done every one, we have healthy children at Minsterworth.

Chinese New Year

The children invited parents to an assembly on Monday.

They all had an opportunity to taste lots of different Chinese food. 

Some of the older children learnt to sing in Chinese whilst the younger ones danced to Chinese music.

A fantastic week.   

ICT

We will be starting an ICT club after school- please see Mrs Watts if you would like to attend.

China

Following Mrs Ritchie's visit to China, a display has now been put up in the hall. 

This shows photos of the link school in Shandong and some of the gifts we were given. We hope to share in the celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Madam Zhoi Ling- the Head Teacher of the link school  is planning to visit Minsterworth later in the year. 

Breakfast and After School Club

We have full child care facilities for children of school age between 07.45 and 17.30 everyday. 

We have vacancies in both at the moment- Please see Mrs Watts for details.

Remember there are various schemes available to help with fees and you don't have to be at Minsterworth to attend.

Recycling

In response to an enquiry. We do collect ink cartridges for recyling. In fact we recently donated three huge boxs to the charity Christain Aid.

We also welcome all supermarket voucers, their value adds up quite quickly even in a small school. We were able to order three digital camaras and a printer this year from Tesco vouchers. So please keep posting them for us they all add up. Thank you.

OPEN MORNING

The children at school invite you to our open morning. on 13th November between 9.00 and 12.00. Pop into a lesson. Have a walk around. Come and join us at playtime. All Welcome

Bristol Standards for Early Years

Minsterworth Foundation and Minipins have just been validated for Bristol Standards for Early Years. Another great award to celebrate.

Well done to all staff and children.  

Class 2 - New Look

Class two has a new look this term. Wall screens and new carpets have been purchased over the holidays. The class is a much brighter environment to work in. Miss Bruton has put up some lovely bright displays and the children think it's great.     

Music Begins

  Don't forget to let Mrs Watts know if you are interested in keyboard lessons for your child. We have a limited amount of space so don't be disappointed.

Elections for parent Governors will need to take place very soon, please inform the office if you intend to stand.

Fabulous day out at the Black Country Museum

A great day out was had by all at the Black Country Museum. It was a lovely day and fun was had by all children, Mums and Dads. The old school room gave children a real idea of what school used to be like. The canal and mine trip was a memory children will hold for years to come.

Nature Quiz

Well done girls, you gave it your very best. You came in the best ten out of 100 schools. We are vey proud of you.
